PART-TIME TUTOR FOR SHORT COURSES AND BESPOKE PROGRAMMES Extension and Continuing Education for Life (EXCEL) is inviting high-calibre professionals to join its part-time teaching team for the Year of 2026. Part-time teaching opportunities may arise in the following areas of Short Courses and Bespoke Programmes: Chinese Opera Dance Drama Film & Television Music Theatre & Entertainment Arts Children’s Programmes Executive Training Musical Theatre Applicants are expected to be degree holders in a relevant discipline, or to demonstrate a professional level of training to an equivalent standard, with the ability to teach in English or Chinese. For some areas of study, current professional practitioners are preferred, while for others, teaching experience is required. Qualified and interested individuals are invited to apply by sending an application, along with a CV and availability, to the HR Manager, quoting “PT EXCEL”, at hr.excel@hkapa.edu . PROGRAMME ASSISTANT The Programme Assistant will assist the Programme Team to assure the smooth execution and operation of EXCEL programmes. The Programme Assistant needs to perform general course administration and office duties, including but not limited to admission and enrollment services, venue scheduling, course promotion and graphic design, arrangement of course materials and equipment, maintenance of student and tutor records, database management, handling enquiries, supervising part-time operation and other ad hoc duties as assigned. Requirements: A Higher Diploma or above. Preferably with one year work experience, but fresh graduates will also be considered. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. strong sense of responsibility and attentive to details. Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua could be an asset. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and Chinese word processing. Working knowledge of Canva; and Available to work on roster and at various office venues. Terms of Appointment Appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term contract. Contract may be extended at the end of two years with satisfactory performance. Salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Part-time Course Operation Assistants Part-time Course Operation Assistants are needed to support the part-time performing arts learning courses provided by HKAPA EXCEL. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and provide operational & logistical support such as class set up, equipment preparation, and live support to different courses and programmes. Handle phone calls and walk-in enquiries Handle course enrolments Liaise with students, tutors, or parents on course arrangement. Provide general administrative and clerical support such as data entry, stock check, etc. Perform ad hoc task requests as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: Good command of English, Putonghua and Cantonese Proficiency in MS Office applications (including MS Word, Excel and Chinese Word Processing) Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills Experience in learning centre support or knowledge in AV equipment is an advantage Work Place: HKAPA Wanchai Campus or other hired venue Work Time: at least 3 hours each time in the evenings, Sat, Sun, or public holidays. Fundamentals of Stage Management / Fundamentals of Stage Management This course is an overview of the roles of stage management in the theatre industry. Course content includes: * Outline of the stage management team's duties and responsibilities including their roles in the technical period * Introducing theatre conventions, stage equipment and theatre glossary * Organizational and management skills * Preparation of prompt book and blocking notation * Understanding the financial responsibilities of the stage management team in relation to production budgets * Introducing the relationship of the stage management team to other theatre personnel * Calling cues * Stage managing various art forms * Theatre health and safety On successful completion of this course, participants should understand some of the fundamental techniques of stage management. The course includes a session for participants to practice at a theatre. A combined practical class will be offered to students from Stage Lighting Design, Stage Management and Sound Technology and Operation course at the last lesson**. **The combined practical class will be offered on the condition that there is sufficient enrolment for EACH course. DSE Applied Learning Practical Skills for DSE Success Applied Learning Course The Essentials of Theatre Arts The Essentials of Theatre Arts is one of the Applied Learning (ApL) courses offered to senior secondary students as an elective subject within the senior secondary curriculum. In this course, student-centred learning and teaching activities are designed to engage students in a holistic experience to enrich them as people, drama artists, makers of drama / theatre, and theatre participants through the “Three Key Learning Processes: Performing, Creating and Appreciation”. It provides students with a comprehensive study of drama and theatre production as an art form and introduces them to the professional world of theatre, while developing their creativity, power of imagination, people skills and self-confidence. This course is conducted in Chinese. Lifelong Learning Explore dynamic programmes at EXCEL. Advanced Theatre Acting / Advanced Theatre Acting In Advanced Theatrical Acting, through script analysis, theatrical exercises, and cast setting exercise, students will learn how to understand the script, the intention of playwright, and the psychological interactions between casts. Students will also learn how to use various materials to inspire the creative process in theatre. The courses will guide students to develop acting techniques and their inner strengths through acting exercises and the journey of self-discovery. Students will experience the inevitable linkages between drama and reality. They will be encouraged to apply their theatrical experiences and acting techniques to their daily lives, including their individual roles at work or within their social circles. At the end of the course, students will present their scene work and share with the audience about their creative processes. Friends and families are welcome to join this session and share their achievements. The advanced course is suitable for participants who have already completed EXCEL’s intermediate course or with equivalent acting experience.
