With a screening session of selected movie and a corresponding seminar, this course series offers a unique opportunity to delve into the cinematic journey of Ryusuke Hamaguchi. Each week, participants will attend a screening session at MOViEMOViE in the Pacific Place. Following the screening, esteemed film critics from Hong Kong will facilitate a brief sharing session, sharing their valuable insights and analysis for approximately 20 minutes. Born is a Film Historian and his article appeared on Sing Pao, Hong Kong Economic Journal, Hong Kong Economic Times, Film Bi-Weekly, City Magazine, initial Media, Ming Pao Century etc. He has been writing film critique for Ming Pao Sunday for more than 10 years, and taught schools such as HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity and HK Baptist University. He has also been a tutor in School of FTV, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts since 2010. Born is also a Registered Architect and HKIA Member. He started Architectural Design education in HKDI and worked in the Hong Kong Movie Industry before. His production design team won the Hong Kong Film Award and Taiwan Golden Horse Award.

PART-TIME TUTOR FOR SHORT COURSES AND BESPOKE PROGRAMMES Extension and Continuing Education for Life (EXCEL) is inviting high-calibre professionals to join its part-time teaching team for the Year of 2026. Part-time teaching opportunities may arise in the following areas of Short Courses and Bespoke Programmes: Chinese Opera Dance Drama Film & Television Music Theatre & Entertainment Arts Children’s Programmes Executive Training Musical Theatre Applicants are expected to be degree holders in a relevant discipline, or to demonstrate a professional level of training to an equivalent standard, with the ability to teach in English or Chinese. For some areas of study, current professional practitioners are preferred, while for others, teaching experience is required. Part-time Summer Course Operation Assistants Part-time Course Operation Assistants are needed to support the summer course operations of part-time performing arts learning courses provided by HKAPA EXCEL. Duties and Responsibilities: Support classroom activities for summer courses, including taking student attendance and maintaining classroom order. Ensure a safe and engaging learning environment for course participants. Prepare and provide operational & logistical support such as class set up, equipment preparation, and live support to different courses and programmes. Handle phone calls and walk-in enquiries. Handle course enrolments. Liaise with students, tutors, or parents/guardians on course arrangement. Provide general administrative and clerical support such as data entry, stock check, etc. Perform ad hoc task requests as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements: Good command of English and Cantonese. Proficiency in MS Office applications (including MS Word, Excel and Chinese Word Processing). Good communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in learning centre or course operation support is an advantage. Knowledge of AV equipment is an advantage. Workplace: Shek Kip Mei Studio, HKAPA Wanchai Campus, or other hired venues. Work Time: at least 3 hours per session on weekday mornings or afternoons during summer (July & August), evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays. Flexibility to work across both Shek Kip Mei Studio and Wanchai Campus would be a definite plus. Preference will be given to candidates who can work at the Shek Kip Mei Studio. Frequently Asked Questions FAQ How do I register for a course? You can register for a course on our official website or visit our Reception Counter in person. Can I register for someone else? Yes, you can register on behalf of someone else, provided that the applicant's name and contact details are accurately presented at the time of enrollment. This is necessary so that EXCEL can verify the course participant's identity and contact them in case there are any changes to the class. What payment methods are accepted? For online registration, you will need to settle the payment with credit cards. You may also visit our Reception Counter in Wanchai to settle the payment with cheque and cash. Where will the courses take place? Please refer to the venue information on the course details. You will also receive a course confirmation email listing the venue information. What is the attendance requirement in order to receive a Certificate of Attendance? Not every course offers the Certificate of Attendance, please refer to the course description. In general, students are required to attend at least 80% of the course to receive the Certificate of Attendance. Will there be a makeup class for me if I cannot attend a particular lesson? Please note that no make-up classes will be offered if the student is absent on his/her own accord. When will I know if my enrolment in the course is successful? A confirmation email will be sent to successful applicants at least 3 working days prior to the course commencement. Applicants who have not received email, please email sc.excel@hkapa.edu . Can I withdraw my application after I have paid the course fee? Course fees paid are non-refundable except under very exceptional circumstances such as the course is cancelled before the commencement. Can I change my course after I have registered? Please note that applicants cannot change to another course after paying the course fee. Does EXCEL accept late applications after the course has started? Depending on the availability of places, some courses may consider late enrolment. Please note that applicants enrol after the course start still need to pay the full course fee. It also requires an attendance rate of 80% or higher of the full course length in order to receive the Certificates of Attendance. To secure a place in the course, candidates are encouraged to apply early. What should I do if I want to change my personal information? We use email to notify students of unexpected situations. So please make sure you have provided an up-to-date email address. If there are any updates, please email sc.excel@hkapa.edu as soon as possible. Can I get a course discount? Some courses will offer discount and please check each course description before applying. Terms & Conditions Application / Enrolment Course Cancellation, Transfer & Refund Policy Guideline for Participants Continuing Education Fund (CEF) Course 1.1. Application Important Notes Applications for courses will be accepted up to three days before the commencement of each course unless otherwise specified. It is advisable to register well in advance as places are limited. Applications will be handled on a first-come first-served basis. EXCEL reserves the right to accept or reject any application. 1.2. Enrolment and Payment Methods When enrolling for a course, applicants should provide accurate names (as shown on your HKID card), postal addresses, contact telephone numbers, and email addresses. Ho's first feature-length film The Sparring Partner was released in 2022 and became the fourth Hong Kong film to break through HK$40 million box office in the same year. The film received 16 nominations including Best Film and Best Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Ho was named the Best New Director of the year. His latest work is Over My Dead Body , a black comedy which has just been released in Hong Kong in April 2023. Wing Moa Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Drama) and the University of Hong Kong (Comparative Literature, German, Media and Cultural Studies), Wing Mo is currently an actress, acting coach, and emcee, actively involved in the cultural and arts scene. In recent years, she has been actively engaged in film and television production. including serving as a acting coach and actress for Ho Cheuk-Tin's film The Sparring Partner , Philip Yung's film Papa (unreleased) and ViuTv drama series "十七年命運週期" (unaired). She also starred in ViuTV drama series "島嶼協奏曲" (unaired) and "iSWIM". In addition to her work in film and television, Wing Mo has been nominated for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Theatre Libre Awards, and received the Outstanding Actress Award from HKAPA during her studies. She has participated in over 40 theatrical productions and has performed on stage in Argentina, France, Taiwan, and Mainland China. With extensive hosting experience, Wing Mo won the championship in the CRHK 903 DJ Competition and hosted the radio program "id人辦." She has worked as a host, anchor trainee, and reporter for TVB Entertainment News Channel, Cable TV Entertainment News Channel, and online Travel Program. This course introduces the idea of risk assessment in the context of performing art productions. He specialises in stage technology, technical direction for productions, venue operations, and workplace health and safety. He holds a BFA in Theatre and Entertainment Arts from the HKAPA, a Prof. Dip. in Occupational Safety and Health from the SCE of HKBU, and an Executive Cert. in Applied Psychology from HKUSPACE. German is continually honing his craft by obtaining professional training at institutions such as the Association of British Theatre Technicians, Artek Formations, and Total Trainings. Collaborating with his colleagues, he translated the ICoPER, the International Code of Practice for Entertainment Rigging, into traditional Chinese to propagate and share best practices. German’s current focus is on automation, applying new technologies, sustainable practices, and cultivating a healthy and safe culture in theatre-making. He is currently a technical member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and a member of the Association of British Theatre Technicians.
