DSE Applied Learning Practical Skills for DSE Success Applied Learning Course Taking a Chance on Dance Taking a Chance on Dance is one of the Applied Learning (ApL) courses offered to senior secondary students as an elective subject within the senior secondary curriculum. This course focuses on the aesthetic aspect of dance by engaging students in ta holistic experience as people, dancers and makers of dance through the “Three Key Learning Processes: Performing, Creating and Appreciation”. It involves learning to perform and create dance, learning to appreciate and appraise dance, and using dance to support cognitive learning. The course also provides an all-around training to students, in developing their creativity and imagination, and on the other hand enhancing their interpersonal relations and self-confidence. This course is conducted in Chinese. The Hong Kong original musical "Sing Out - A Musical", which won six major prizes at the 27th Hong Kong Drama Awards, is coming to the stage in August 2025. The musical combines the mission of artistic heritage and character education. The 2025 production is organised and produced by HKAPA EXCEL, sponsored by the Lee Hysan Foundation. The professional creative team will collaborate with approximately 80 young people from various institutions to participate in the on-stage and backstage performance, injecting new vigour and creativity into the local musical theatre scene! PART-TIME TEACHER FOR SHORT COURSES AND BESPOKE PROGRAMMES Extension and Continuing Education for Life (EXCEL) is inviting high-calibre professionals to join its part-time teaching team for the Year of 2026. Part-time teaching opportunities may arise in the following areas of Short Courses and Bespoke Programmes: Chinese Opera Dance Drama Film & Television Music Theatre & Entertainment Arts Children’s Programmes Executive Training Musical Theatre Applicants are expected to be degree holders in a relevant discipline, or to demonstrate a professional level of training to an equivalent standard, with the ability to teach in English or Chinese. For some areas of study, current professional practitioners are preferred, while for others, teaching experience is required. Part-time Course Operation Assistants Part-time Course Operation Assistants are needed to support the part-time performing arts learning courses provided by HKAPA EXCEL. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and provide operational & logistical support such as class set up, equipment preparation, and live support to different courses and programmes. Handle phone calls and walk-in enquiries Handle course enrolments Liaise with students, tutors, or parents on course arrangement. Provide general administrative and clerical support such as data entry, stock check, etc. Perform ad hoc task requests as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: Good command of English, Putonghua and Cantonese Proficiency in MS Office applications (including MS Word, Excel and Chinese Word Processing) Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills Experience in learning centre support or knowledge in AV equipment is an advantage Work Place: HKAPA Wanchai Campus or other hired venue Work Time: at least 3 hours each time in the evenings, Sat, Sun, or public holidays.
