EXCEL is a non-profit making subsidiary of HKAPA. Senior Project Manager HKAPA EXCEL is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal role in the development and launch of the new Performing Arts & Cultural Facilities (PACF). This is a unique opportunity to shape a landmark cultural venue from the final design stages through to its initial operations. The successful candidate will be the central coordination hub, ensuring that the design, planning, and initial programming of the PACF align with HKAPA EXCEL's vision. Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including interior designers, architects, curators, technical consultants, and future operators, to deliver a world-class facility that enhances the user experience for all visitors. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design and Planning Coordination Act as the primary liaison between HKAPA EXCEL, the Interior Designer (ID), and the Curator to ensure the spatial layout (including café, art shop, box office, and performance/exhibition spaces) is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and meets operational needs. Coordinate with the building architects and consultants on the design of office spaces and initial operational layouts prior to the PACF's opening. Lead coordination with all specialist designers and consultants, including media, lighting & sound, and theatre consultants, to ensure integrated and compliant design solutions. 2. Stakeholder Management and Communication Clearly communicate HKAPA EXCEL’s requirements, specifications, and functional needs to the interior design team and consultants. Develop and draft requirements specification documents and design alignment checklists; perform regular checks to ensure adherence to the project vision. Attend and present at regular working group meetings, providing timely updates on exhibition progress and overall PACF program planning. Liaise with content providers, such as CASH, art groups, and theatre companies, to facilitate future programming. 3. Operational Setup and Licensing Lead the process to identify, shortlist, and select a suitable café operator; coordinate with the operator and the interior designer on the café's functional design. Manage the application process for all necessary performance space licenses (e.g., Places of Public Entertainment (PPE), Temporary Places of Public Entertainment (TPPE)) in coordination with relevant consultants. 4. Curatorial and Programming Collaboration Collaborate closely with the Curator on the integration of archival and exhibition materials into the Archive and exhibition space. Support the planning of the PACF's initial and opening programming, ensuring the Opening Exhibition is delivered on schedule. Assist in developing the initial programming schedule and detailed opening exhibition plan. Qualifications and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Project & Event Management, Arts Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 8-10 years of post-qualification experience in project management, with a proven track record in managing large-scale, complex design or construction projects, preferably within the cultural, arts, or hospitality sectors. Demonstrated experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams of designers, consultants, and stakeholders. Experience in tenant/operator procurement and coordination is highly desirable. Key Competencies & Skills: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management. Strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail. Highly proficient in multi-tasking and deadline management. Proactive, solution-oriented, and resilient. Proficiency in project management software and tools as well as the MS Office Suite. Terms of Appointment: The appointment will be offered on an 18-months fixed-term contract. Subject to satisfactory performance, the contract may be extended upon completion. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Part-time Course Operation Assistants Part-time Course Operation Assistants are needed to support the part-time performing arts learning courses provided by HKAPA EXCEL. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and provide operational & logistical support such as class set up, equipment preparation, and live support to different courses and programmes. Handle phone calls and walk-in enquiries Handle course enrolments Liaise with students, tutors, or parents on course arrangement. Provide general administrative and clerical support such as data entry, stock check, etc. Perform ad hoc task requests as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: Good command of English, Putonghua and Cantonese Proficiency in MS Office applications (including MS Word, Excel and Chinese Word Processing) Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills Experience in learning centre support or knowledge in AV equipment is an advantage Work Place: HKAPA Wanchai Campus or other hired venue Work Time: at least 3 hours each time in the evenings, Sat, Sun, or public holidays. Terms & Conditions Application / Enrolment Course Cancellation, Transfer & Refund Policy Guideline for Participants Continuing Education Fund (CEF) Course 1.1. Application Important Notes Applications for courses will be accepted up to three days before the commencement of each course unless otherwise specified. It is advisable to register well in advance as places are limited. Applications will be handled on a first-come first-served basis. EXCEL reserves the right to accept or reject any application. 1.2. Enrolment and Payment Methods When enrolling for a course, applicants should provide accurate names (as shown on your HKID card), postal addresses, contact telephone numbers, and email addresses. Applications can be made by a representative, however, the applicant's name and contact details must be accurately presented at the time of enrolment so that EXCEL can verify course participant identity, and contact the participants in the case of any class changes. The discount is not applicable to CEF courses. Each of the offers stated above cannot be used in conjunction with other discount offers. Frequently Asked Questions FAQ How do I register for a course? You can register for a course on our official website or visit our Reception Counter in person. Can I register for someone else? Yes, you can register on behalf of someone else, provided that the applicant's name and contact details are accurately presented at the time of enrollment. This is necessary so that EXCEL can verify the course participant's identity and contact them in case there are any changes to the class. What payment methods are accepted? For online registration, you will need to settle the payment with credit cards. You may also visit our Reception Counter in Wanchai to settle the payment with cheque and cash. Where will the courses take place? Please refer to the venue information on the course details. You will also receive a course confirmation email listing the venue information. What is the attendance requirement in order to receive a Certificate of Attendance? Not every course offers the Certificate of Attendance, please refer to the course description. In general, students are required to attend at least 80% of the course to receive the Certificate of Attendance. Will there be a makeup class for me if I cannot attend a particular lesson? Please note that no make-up classes will be offered if the student is absent on his/her own accord. When will I know if my enrolment in the course is successful? A confirmation email will be sent to successful applicants at least 3 working days prior to the course commencement. Applicants who have not received email, please email sc.excel@hkapa.edu . Can I withdraw my application after I have paid the course fee? Course fees paid are non-refundable except under very exceptional circumstances such as the course is cancelled before the commencement. Can I change my course after I have registered? Please note that applicants cannot change to another course after paying the course fee. Does EXCEL accept late applications after the course has started? Depending on the availability of places, some courses may consider late enrolment. Please note that applicants enrol after the course start still need to pay the full course fee. It also requires an attendance rate of 80% or higher of the full course length in order to receive the Certificates of Attendance. To secure a place in the course, candidates are encouraged to apply early. What should I do if I want to change my personal information? We use email to notify students of unexpected situations. So please make sure you have provided an up-to-date email address. If there are any updates, please email sc.excel@hkapa.edu as soon as possible. Can I get a course discount? Some courses will offer discount and please check each course description before applying. DSE Applied Learning Practical Skills for DSE Success Applied Learning Course The Essentials of Theatre Arts The Essentials of Theatre Arts is one of the Applied Learning (ApL) courses offered to senior secondary students as an elective subject within the senior secondary curriculum. In this course, student-centred learning and teaching activities are designed to engage students in a holistic experience to enrich them as people, drama artists, makers of drama / theatre, and theatre participants through the “Three Key Learning Processes: Performing, Creating and Appreciation”. It provides students with a comprehensive study of drama and theatre production as an art form and introduces them to the professional world of theatre, while developing their creativity, power of imagination, people skills and self-confidence. Students may choose, according to their personal interest, “Dramatic Arts” or “Theatre Production” as their elective parts. This course is conducted in Chinese.
