Screenwriting Fundamentals (Module from Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Film and Television)

 

This course aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of creating and writing film scripts.


Students will learn how to present ideas and craft stories through cinematic shots. Throughout the process, they will grasp the basic concepts of scriptwriting (such as time, place, and characters) and methods for expressing roles. By reading scripts, students will gain insight into the structure of film stories, scene breakdowns, and scriptwriting techniques. They will be able to implement this knowledge by writing story outlines that incorporate dramatic elements.

  • Introduction to Film and Scriptwriting (8 hours)
  • Methods and Techniques for Story Creation (8 hours)
  • Methods for Writing Story Outlines (7 hours)
  • Techniques for Expanding Story Outlines into Scene Breakdowns (7 hours)

(30 hours in total)

Screenwriting Fundamentals

  • Total Tuition Fee: HKD 7,500

    (Payable in 3 instalments; HKD 2,500 per instalment)

     

    *Applicants who apply for the CEF funding for the first application will be subsidised course fees up to HKD 6,000. (After the subsidy, students pay only HKD 1,500 for 30 training hours)
