This course introduces the four fundamental pillars of vocal development:
• Awareness: Discover and appreciate the unique qualities of the human voice.
• Alignment: Connect body, breath, and voice to establish a harmonious foundation.
• Articulation: Refine speech clarity through focused phonation and articulation.
• Authenticity: Uncover and embrace the true voice within.
Designed for a multicultural cohort, this course is taught in English and supplemented with Cantonese. It is ideal for individuals interested in exploring vocalisation and vocal artistry, expressing themselves more freely, and communicating more effectively.
Over five 2.5-hour sessions, participants will explore the "4As" through:• Interactive talks and discussions
• Practical voice work inspired by the instructor’s training in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama's postgraduate voice studies programme and three decades of broadcasting experience, covering areas such as:
o Vocalisation techniques
o Posture and breathing for vocal support
o Vocal clarity and musicality
o Confidence-building through live presentation
o Public and interpersonal communication skills
Activities include community singing, poetry reading, speech delivery, and voice acting. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform in any language of their choice during the final presentation.
Voice work involves floorwork and movement. Participants are encouraged to bring yoga mats and work barefoot in the studio.
