Singing constitutes a core and indispensable component of musical theatre. This workshop is designed to facilitate participants’ understanding of the range of voice qualities employed within musical theatre vocal practice, and to examine the ways in which varied vocal techniques contribute to character development, emotional articulation and the overall effectiveness of stage narrative. The programme will additionally integrate insights drawn from prior professional and performance experience, thereby enabling participants to develop a more comprehensive appreciation of the artistic and technical dimensions of musical theatre. In the latter section of the workshop, a small number of structured vocal training exercises will be undertaken, providing participants with direct, practice-based engagement with the distinctive expressive capacities of the musical theatre voice.
