This course uses musical theatre songs as the medium of instruction to train students in the fundamental skills of musical theatre singing and interpretation. Through solo singing, ensemble singing, small group rehearsals, and song performance practice, students will enhance their vocal technique, stage presence, and overall confidence as performers. The course also covers character analysis and dramatic context, lyric interpretation and language delivery, character portrayal and emotional depth, stage performance skills, as well as in-class coaching and individual feedback, enabling students to develop comprehensively from the song text and the character's inner world to the final stage presentation. The course will conclude with a showcase performance, allowing students to apply what they have learned in a real performance setting.
