Introduction to Screen Acting (Module from Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Film and Television)

This course combines theory and practice and introduces Screen Acting, i.e. “acting in front of the camera” and “directing actors”. Students experience the fundamental acting methods and craftsmanship, as well as the relationship between actors, film medium and its mechanics. Key topics include: script and character analysis, characterisation, and communication skills with and between actors. Through the theoretical and practical dimensions of “acting in front of the camera”, students gain an understanding of how actors think and feel. They experience, explore, and immerse themselves into the characters' mind as they act in front of the camera. This experience enhances student directors’ communication and articulation skills with the actors.
