This course takes the ambition of becoming a set designer as its starting point, provides a comprehensive and in-depth deconstruction of the set design production process. In addition to help students firmly master the core concepts of theatre aesthetics and set design, guiding them through the design procedures while developing their sensitivity in translating textual essence into stage space. Concurrently, the course integrates modern theatre technologies, encompassing technical stage drafting, lighting theory, practical applications of multimedia technology, alongside fundamental skills in hand-sketching and model making.Adopting a teaching model that places equal emphasis on theory and practice, students will engage in hands-on stage model making and embark on field trips to professional theatres.
Through intensive practical exercises, appreciation of design works, and firsthand exposure to the industry, the course fully expands students' spatial imagination and vision, significantly sharpening their creative thinking and technical execution. Furthermore, the final session features a dedicated portfolio showcase and career-oriented guidance, laying a solid foundation for students' future advancement into professional theatre production.
